CEM REPORT, MEDIA | Twitter Users have reportedly been receiving payment from the earlier announced revenue-sharing program in February.
Several Twitter creators have taken to their handles to share how much they received from Twitter with some claiming to have received as much as $100,000 according to Forbes.
The first payments come as Twitter tries to head off strong competition from Threads, a new rival app launched last week by Facebook owner Meta.
Threads has already picked up at least 100 million users nearly a third of the size of Twitter’s community.
Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, stated that the first payouts will pay creators for ads that appear in their reply threads noting that payments would be cumulative from when he first launched the initiative in February.
“This means that creators can get a share in ad revenue starting in the replies to their posts. This is part of our effort to help people earn a living directly on Twitter,” said Twitter’s website about the new programme.
To be eligible for the program users must be subscribed to Twitter Blue, have a Stripe account for payment, and have received more than five million tweet impressions in each of the last three months.
Musk stated last month that the first payout to creators would be $5 million.

Twitter sent out emails to select users on Thursday, stating eligible creators would receive their share of revenue-sharing program within the next three days.
However, it is unclear how Twitter calculates its payouts to creators or how it splits the revenue that is shared with eligible users.
