Allen Ifechukwu Onyema CON, who hails from Mbosi in Ihiala Local Government Area Anambra State, was born in March 1964 in Benin City to Michael and Helen Onyema as the first of nine children. Allen Onyema obtained his Higher School Certificate from Government College, Ughelli, Delta state in 1984 and was directly offered admission to read law at the University of Ibadan in the same year. Upon graduation from the university in 1987, he moved to the Nigerian law school same year. In 2013, he founded the Air Peace limited, an Airline that has raised the pedestal of Nigeria in global aviation operation. Onyema has built Air Peace into a dominant brand, one that has become conspicuous among global airlines. From 2 Boeing 737-500 Dornier 328s acquired in 2014, Air Peace now boast of 29 aircrafts in its fleet, employing 567 persons. The Airline under the astute leadership of Allen Onyema has achieved notable landmarks and offered humanitarian services to millions of Nigerians deserving of the CEM Notable Achievers Award In 2023, Air Peace made its first flight to Antigua and Barbuda, becoming the first Nigerian carrier to operate a nonstop flight to the Caribbean island nation. On August 5th, Air Peace Flight P47554 departed Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS), Lagos at 14:43, touching down at V. C. Bird International Airport (ANU) at 18:32. In February this year, Allen Onyema led Air Peace entered the Nigeria – London route with a stabilizing price which forced foreign airlines to drop their prices from their initial exploitative levels. Air Peace crashed Lagos – London return ticked by a substantial 66%. The cheap direct flight saved huge amount for Nigerians and eliminated the inconveniences caused by stopovers. In 2019, Air Peace evacuated 503 Nigerians free of charge from South Africa in a two-batch operation during the xenophobic attack from South Africans. The same gesture was offered in 2023 to evacuate stranded Nigerians from South Sudan by Onyema led Air Peace. Allen Onyema’s patriotic spirit and appetite for peace started way back in his days at the University of Ibadan when he led a group of nine other students to the city of Zaria to quell a raging religious and ethnic riot that claimed lives. Onyema took this further by forming the Eminent Friends’ Group with the objectives of promoting ethnic harmony amongst Nigeria’s diverse ethnic nationalities and fighting the incidence of violence of all forms. Air Peace, being the first indigenously and privately owned airline to achieve these feet and contributing so much to the economy of Nigeria, CEM Communication Companies presents this CEM Notable Achievers Award to its Founder and CEO, Allen Ifechukwu Onyema CON.
