Mrs. Folusho Modupe Adeolu (née Oluwatoba) was born in Ado-Ekiti to Pa David and Mama Rachel Oluwatoba. She began her educational journey at Emmanuel Anglican Primary School in Ado-Ekiti (1970-1976) and later attended Eyemote Comprehensive High School in Iyin-Ekiti (1977-1982). Mrs. Adeolu pursued higher education at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State, graduating with a degree in Sociology and Anthropology (1986-1990). After completing her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program at First Inter-State Merchant Bank in Marina, Lagos in 1992, she was retained by the Bank and eventually became an Officer before leaving in 1997 to pursue personal business ventures. In 2001, Mrs. Adeolu joined the Lagos State Civil Service and headed various units within the Social Development Division of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development. Her career progression included stints at the Health Service Commission, where she led the Medical Social Service Department at Ijede Health Center and Ikorodu General Hospital. She also worked at the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, heading the Family Social Service in Ikorodu, the Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for Persons with Disabilities in Owutu, and the Ketu Special Children Centre. In 2017, Mrs. Adeolu was redeployed to the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Social Development. She later returned to the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, where she headed the Early Intervention Unit and the Orphan and Vulnerable Children Unit at the Child Development Department. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Adeolu served as the Director of the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Orientation Department at the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs. A devoted community member, Mrs. Adeolu has received awards for her contributions. She is known for her easy-going nature, while also being uncompromising on her values. A dedicated child of God and minister, Mrs. Adeolu has served in various churches, including Gideon Baptist Church in Owode Ibeshe, Ikorodu, where she has held multiple roles. She has also served as Secretary and is presently the Treasurer at Amazing Grace Baptist Association in Lagos-East Baptist Conference. Mrs. Adeolu married the late Pastor Sam Folusho S. Adeolu in 1990 and they are blessed with 4 children: Ms. Oluwatosin, Mr. Adeniyi, Dr. Adeola, and Ms. Rereloluwa. She is a mother figure to many.

The beauty of African culture is deep rooted in the beauty of the make-up of the black as a race being the cradle of civilization and the representation of the human allure. Where ever African culture is showcased, its inviting nature is never subdued. The AU Ukhua Carnival is one unique arena where this culture is richly displayed. Expectedly, The AU Ukhua Carnival 2024 came with its usual glamour, fanfare and excitement which engulfed the whole Ivhiukhua community. The venue of the carnival was lit up with fascinating costumes that adorned the organizers and participants alike. The well attended carnival had the presence of top government functionaries, prominent industry leaders as well as illustrious sons and daughters of Iviukhua community, Weppa, Wanno and Uzanu Kingdoms, the Afemai and Edo State. Visitors from other African and non-African countries were on ground to catch the fun that the carnival presents each year The AU Ukhua Carnival has rapidly become an event awaited at every December 26th having speedily gained publicity and national value with its resultant well deserved recognition and endorsement by the National Tourism Development Commission. Worthy of note is that this annual event has since assumed and serves as center of convergence for the sons and daughters of Iviukhua across the world under the umbrella of Ukhua Development Association Worldwide. They come home every year to participate and share the moment in now obligatory manner. After the usual carnival procession into the arena, activities commenced in full package to the admiration of every one present Very important personalities were given the proper recognition which ushered in the Ukhua Development Association Worldwide Chapters’ procession. Constance Monopolous Bolivia was fully on ground supplying good Etsako music. Central to the carnival is the presentation of dances from different indigenous cultural and foreign dance groups. Masquerades, youth dances and then the wonderful Cameroun boys from the Republic of Cameroun. Au Ukhua Carnival leaves lasting memories every year with raffle draw where a Sienna is worn and the grand finale of the Au Ukhua Beauty Pageant where the beauty queen emerges and crowned. This year, Miss Tossy Kessy Michael was crowned Miss Ukhua 2024. She is a 100 level student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. The 20 years old first daughter of Kessy Michael is studying Theater and Media Art High point of the event was the official recognition of AU Ukhua Ambassadors led by Prof Mike Ozekhome, SAN, OFR as grand ambassador.

Iviesama Family Tree Do you know your root? do you know where your ancestral home is located? Can you identify 10 generations before you in your genealogy? Can you identify how large these generations have spread across the earth? Do those questions trigger your inquisitiveness or do they just sound rhetoric? There are currently families and kindreds where recognition of its members has become difficult or practically impossible having expanded beyond verbal recognition and identification. The danger is that genealogical trace of persons and families is obstructed and identity is being lost. This is an evidential authentication cast on the decision of Iviesama kindred of Ivioghe to unveil their family tree in a ceremony holding on the 27th of December, 2024. Iviesama literarily means ‘Children of Esama’. This name is linguistically spelt ‘Esamha’ but now spelt Esama for simplicity. Historically, occupation and conquest were the primary reasons for migration in the ancient times. For Esama, definitely, it was not for conquest and so it should be for occupation that he and others migrated from Uzanu to Ivioghe probably in search of fertile land for farming or simply for the sake of independence. Esama was the son of Evbhie, the son of Odisi, a native of Uzanu; one of the ancient towns in Etsako East Local Government. He migrated to Ivioghe sometime in the 18th century. The Iviesama kindred is engulfed in celebration mood The family tree was unveiled at the compound of the Obotsu of the Iviesama kindred by Rev Fr ---------. After prayers were offered, the veil was finally removed amidst clapping and cheering According to the genealogy represented by the tree figure, Esama had five direct male children since the diagram excluded female offspring. They are Elama, Iyelobu, Ikhazoboh, Osikhena and Okhuma. These direct children further procreated through the single nuclear family has expanded into a kindred. Elama gave birth to Ikhenoba, Ethagbe, Ugbeghe and Inwomoh. Iyelobu gave birth to Igenegba, Omokhekha, Bello, Braima, Ozimede, Thomas and Okpokpo Ikhazoboh gave birth to Ighietseneh, Akhagbemeh, Enike and Momoh. Osikhena gave birth to Makaka, Egiepo and Apakhume. Okhuma gave birth to Eshiemomo Why has it become imperative to compile and unveil this family tree for Iviesama kindred? Dr Paul Anegbe speaks Currently, the oldest man in Iviesama family, known as the Igaga is Senior High Chief Thomas M Yelobu. The Okpe-Ukpi of Iviesama is Chief John Ikhenoba while the Obotsu of Iviesma is Ambassador (chief)Peter J.E Anegbe The Family Tree fosters the much-needed bond necessary for uplifting one another. At a glance, Iviesama can identify its members, enabling them to connect with those in position to offer support. The divine instruction to be our brother's keeper is therefore compelling members of iviesama kindred to watch out for and actively support the safety and welfare of each other. It is pertinent that Esama descendants wherever they may be, should be deliberate in connecting with one another to form the bond for strength and for growth.
