CEM REPORT, HUMANITARIAN | The Usagbe Club of Nigeria has as one of its top agenda the discussion on how to create an enabling environment for investment in Weppa, Wanno and Uzanu communities of Edo North as the Club holds the 2023 edition of its annual convention.

As it is a tradition in its convention, this year’s Convention Lecture to be delivered by RHC (Prof.) Mike Ozekhome, SAN is titled; Creating an Enabling Environment for Investment in Weppa, Wanno and Uzanu Communities: Focus on Education and Infrastructure.

The Usagbe Club of Nigeria made up of prominent sons of Weppa, Wanno and Uzanu communities, has demonstrated its commitment to the development of these communities over time through various actions and interventions in the areas of education, SMEs, security and sports.

While these efforts are individually and collectively made, there is now an urgent need to discuss on a larger scale on best approach to attract both local and foreign investment into the communities they represent. One of the ways and a major one, is to create the enabling environment which according to the title of the lecture, is focusing on education and infrastructure.

Coincidentally, investment and industrialization of Weppa, Wanno and Uzanu communities featured prominently in the maiden edition of The Usagbe Chronicle, a bi-annual magazine of the club to be lunched at the convention. The magazine also featured credible multi-disciplinary articles incisively written by professionals

The convention to be declared open by Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki on Saturday in Benin City, the Edo State capital is a hybrid event. This is one of the decisions of the club to open up and coordinate discussions toward entrenching all inclusive approach to the development of the communities.
