The words of the fourth ICAN LEDS Mr Patrick Asese Akamiokhor, FCA, resonate the reality of Nigeria and symbolize the urgency of action expected from responsible and concerned individuals, groups and governments.
“There is hunger in the land, there is poverty in the land, there is frustration in the land and anywhere we can help to improve the standard of living of people by providing food, borehole and other amenities, we will try and start them so that by the end of the year, people will know that Lekki and District Society is with them”.
These words were part of his agenda read out in the acceptance speech during his investiture as the fourth Chairman of the Lekki and District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.

The ceremony was held on June 21, 2025 at the Grandview Hotel, Lekki and was well attended by accounting stakeholders. The President of ICAN Mallam Haruna Yahaya, FCA was represented by the District Coordinator, Ezekiel Ayebantoyekiri Anagha, FCA who performed the investiture. Other attendees at the ceremony include business associates, friends, family members and religious brethren.
The young but blazingly vibrant district has been into many things in a bid to advance the course of ICAN and the district including corporate social responsibility. They embarked on social ventures aimed at reaching out to the needy in their immediate environment.
“Then, finally, corporate social responsibility; we started this last year on a small scale, but the lesson learnt is that it is worth doing and this year we shall continue with it. We will encourage all members to be involved both physically and financially so we can do more”; he said.
Mr Patrick Asese Akamiokhor, FCA is a pioneer member of the ICAN Lekki and District Society inaugurated 4 years ago and has held many positions including Vice Chairman; his last position before becoming the Chairman of the district. His contribution to the growth of the district has been articulated by past chairmen including his immediate predecessor, Mrs Olufunmilayo Olaniyi, ACA.
While speaking with CEM Television, Mrs Olaniyi expressed satisfaction with Mr Akamiokhor’s input in her administration and confidence in his ability to advance the objectives of the district in line with their vision and mission
“You can go to sleep knowing that he is in charge. He was in charge of membership committee and he did fantastically well. He tries to make himself available even with his resources…technically, he is an awesome person to work with.
“I have no doubts. You heard his acceptance speech; he has so much in mind. I only need to work with him, he is a jolly good fellow. I see nothing but the top; council, presidency and so on”; Mrs Olaniyi said.
