The Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Logistics Command, Air Vice Marshal A.A. Suleh, has urged graduating students of Air Force Secondary School (AFSS), Ikeja, to remain focused, disciplined and committed to excellence as they advance to higher institutions and prepare for future leadership responsibilities.
Air Vice Marshal Suleh gave the charge while speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the 36th Speech and Prize-Giving Ceremony of Air Force Secondary School, Ikeja, held on July 24, 2026 through Air Commodore Akpabio who represented him.
The ceremony, themed “Limitless Potential and Global Impact,” celebrated the academic achievements, character development and leadership potential of students, particularly members of the graduating class.
According to the AOC, the theme reflects the belief that every student possesses enormous potential and can make meaningful contributions not only within Nigeria but also on the global stage.
“Every child in this school possesses boundless capabilities,” he said, adding that the students were being deliberately prepared to excel academically, demonstrate good character and become future leaders capable of positively influencing society.
He noted that the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to quality education and the holistic development of young people aligns with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, particularly the key driver of prioritising personnel welfare and wellbeing for improved operational effectiveness.
Air Vice Marshal Suleh said the philosophy was reflected in the quality of education, discipline and all-round development provided at Air Force Secondary School, Ikeja.
Addressing the graduating students, the AOC described their graduation as a major milestone and commended them for successfully navigating the demands of secondary education within a military environment that places high value on academic excellence, discipline, character formation and leadership.
He urged the students to apply the knowledge, values and self-discipline acquired during their years in school as a strong foundation for their future academic pursuits and life endeavours.
“As you prepare for the next phase of your lives, remember that greater responsibilities and fewer direct supervisions await you,” he said. “You will encounter new freedoms and numerous distractions, but you must remain focused, prayerful and committed to the ideals instilled in you by your parents and teachers.”
The AOC also congratulated students who received prizes and awards, describing the recognition as consistent with the Nigerian Air Force’s tradition of rewarding hard work, dedication and excellence.
He encouraged the award recipients to see their achievements as motivation for greater accomplishments and as an inspiration to other students.
Air Vice Marshal Suleh, however, urged students who did not receive individual awards not to be discouraged, noting that successfully completing the academic stage with commendable results was itself a significant achievement.
He further commended the graduating students for their impressive performance in the recent Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations, describing the results as evidence of the quality of teaching and learning at the institution.
The AOC expressed appreciation to the Chief of the Air Staff for his continued commitment to the welfare and development of Nigerian Air Force Welfare Schools despite competing operational demands.
He said the leadership of the Chief of the Air Staff had ensured sustained investment in educational institutions through the provision of resources and infrastructure needed to support effective teaching and learning.
Air Vice Marshal Suleh also commended the Commandant and staff of Air Force Secondary School, Ikeja, for creating an enabling environment that promotes academic excellence, discipline and the holistic development of students.
He thanked parents and guardians for their sacrifices and continued support, which he said had contributed significantly to the achievements celebrated at the ceremony.
The AOC congratulated the award recipients and the entire student body, urging them to continue upholding the values of excellence, discipline and responsible leadership.
