CEM Media and Communication Companies has announced the election of Alhaji Abubakar Agbonoga, FCA, as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors, following a Board meeting held today, 30th January, 2026. He takes over from Mr. Patrick Akamiokhor, FCA, who successfully concluded a distinguished five-year tenure marked by strategic growth, institutional stability, and enhanced corporate governance.
In his valedictory address, Mr. Akamiokhor, FCA, expressed heartfelt appreciation to fellow Directors for their cooperation and support, noting that collective leadership and shared vision were instrumental in positioning the company at its current level of strength and relevance within the media and communications industry.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Abubakar Agbonoga, FCA, paid tribute to the outgoing Chairman, commending the strong legacy of professionalism, discipline, and progress laid under his leadership. He pledged to consolidate these achievements, deepen governance standards, and provide strategic direction that will further strengthen the company’s market leadership and sustainability.
Alhaji Abu Agbonoga, FCA is a Seasoned Banker with over 30 years banking experience and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and a highly respected professional with extensive leadership experience. He is a Past President of several organisations, including the Usagbe Club of Nigeria, and brings to the role a wealth of experience in corporate leadership, finance, and organizational development.
The Vice Chairman of the company, MSHC Kennedy Izuagbe, who also serves as a Director, commended Mr. Akamiokhor, FCA for his exemplary leadership and lasting contributions to the company. He assured the new Chairman of his unwavering support and commitment to working collaboratively in advancing the company’s objectives.
