United Bank for Africa (UBA) has made a significant stride in its global expansion strategy by securing a landmark business cooperation agreement with the French government. The deal, signed by UBA Chairman Tony Elumelu in the presence of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and French President Emmanuel Macron, will facilitate the full operation of UBA’s banking services in France.
The partnership with the French government marks a pivotal moment for UBA, positioning the bank as a key player in international banking and strengthening its connection between Africa and Europe. By establishing a significant presence in France, UBA aims to provide seamless international banking services to its customers across the African continent and beyond.
“This partnership reinforces our commitment to seamless international banking services for our customers, not just across the 11 Francophone African countries we serve, but Africa as a whole; and French and European customers transacting with Africa,” said Tony Elumelu, Chairman of UBA Group. “
Expanding into France is a natural progression, with Paris serving as our European Union hub, as we continue to bring Africa and the world together, through innovative financial solutions. Paris will join London, New York and Dubai, as a critical component of our unique global network,” he added.
