The name, Alhaji Abubakar Agbonoga is one that has become a reference point when issues regarding great personalities are discussed among the people of Edo State, especially the Edo North and Etsako in Particular.
A few things have been said about him in the past, some of which will be reiterated in this piece to celebrate him again as he celebrates his birthday today. It must be noted that it is not possible to say all about great people, especially those that have unquenchable drive for success and poised to always reach out to humanity. In which case, there is always something new to say about them, either a feather added or new testimony from someone, or a group that have associated with them.
We will not speak much of his qualifications in this short presentation, because, we wrote about that in a previous report that announced his appointment into the board of CEM (Continental Economy Magazine). Since that appointment, our interactions and association with him have revealed a striking phenomenon about his personal character. That is what we want to briefly talk about here.
Before then, Abu Agbonoga is a Master Degree holder and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria, (ICAN). He is a former Banker and now a Businessman. Read more of his profile here.
Alhaji Abu Agbonoga represents those that have created worth and is yet immersed in humility. History is starved with people who are really economically strong and yet maintain a coordinated and deliberate disposition that respect both old and young, rich and poor as well as both male and female genders. This is a character trait that has created a natural and non-superficial welcoming aura around him.
Alhaji Abu Agbonoga is an inspiration to others in terms of hard work, especially the young ones. You can not but be inspired to become focused, calculative and purposeful when you are close to him. We at CEM have often spoken of him of how he has tactically let us know in meetings, that every minute need to be utilized to bring in income, without which it is wasted. His commitment to purposeful and result-oriented work is second to none!
One of the ways to appreciate the character of a man is through the relationship between him and his workers. A very vital hook here, is the measure of time spent by staff in his organization and their visible mood at work. As observed over time, there is always this relaxation and cordiality that emanate from those that work with Alhaji Abu Agbonoga. These are people that have spent years working with him and are motivated to continue.
Going back to his community, Abu Agbonoga is the Ezomo of Weppa Kingdom, a title reserved for those who are not only economically strong, but who are also philanthropic. It is for those that have the right character and knowledge. This explains how well regarded he is among his people.

Abu Agbonoga has an unquenchable passion for philanthropy and community development evident in the numerous development groups he belongs; has headed and still heading. He is the President-General of Weppa Community, Immediate Past President of Aloagbaye Weppa Union, Patron of Weppa Wanno United Sisters Club and Patron of Etsako People’s Unity Club. He is a member of Agiere Development Association and Weppa-Wanno Union.
He is a Board member of Isadus Inc-USA and a member of Ikoyi Club, Lagos.
His is well honored with numerous titles which include; The Apeakhuye of Weppa Wanno, The Ezomo of Weppa and Baba Adini of Weppa Muslim Community. These titles are in recognition of his contributions to youth education through scholarships, provision of employment and worship centers.
