“In Islam, we believe that when the Almighty Allah has blessed you, you have to find a way to appreciate God and that is entirely what has happened here.

“We started this project last year in November and in one year it was completed,” he added.

Al-Quddus Economic Impact

Beyond its imposing structure and captivating Islamic architecture, Al-Quddus transcends conventional mosque boundaries. It aspires to be a vibrant hub for the Muslim community, both within the Weppa community and beyond. Alhaji Abubakar Agbonoga’s vision for the centre extends beyond spiritual enrichment. He envisions it as a catalyst for economic growth, attracting investors and entrepreneurs with its infrastructure and strategic location.

A significant milestone in the project’s journey was the induction of the Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT). This renowned Islamic organization brings extensive experience in religious, educational, and social welfare activities, adding immense value to the centre’s operations.

According to Alhaji Abubakar Agbonoga, NASFAT’s wide reach will further boost the socio-economic landscape of the community.

“A facility like this will attract a lot of people, we hope that this will help the socio-cultural and economic development of this place.

“There are going to be a lot of Islamic programmes and activities in the coming year and that is the reason we chose NASFAT because it is over the world. By the time they undertake their programmes, visitors from all over the world will come here.”

He further noted that “residents alone cannot bring in the needed development”, and added that the mosque is a strategic infrastructure to attract much needed development.

A Leventies factory is presently located in the community, however, Alhaji Abubakar Agbonoga in his optimism looks forward to more industries siting and educational institutions.

Al-Quddus Social Impact

Chief Imam Shaibu Ozenua sees the mosque as a force for unity and growth within the Muslim community and the wider Weppa community. He believes it strengthens the bond among Muslims and paves the way for development in the area.

Ozenua in appreciative spirit and emphasising the need for the new structure noted that the previous mosque built by Alhaji Agbonoga, could no longer accommodate the growing Islamic community in the region.

The Ameer of Weppa, Sheik Mukhtar Muhammed Sulaiman Obaze, echoes this sentiment, stating that the mosque will unify the community and attract investment.

Speaking with CEM, NASFAT missioner, Ishak Suleiman, noted that NASFAT will bring several benefits to the community ranging from education to empowerment.

Renowned for its dedication to social development and interfaith dialogue, NASFAT promises to steer Al-Quddus Islamic Centre towards a future of impactful initiatives and community engagement.

The commissioning ceremony was a joyous occasion, attended by dignitaries, religious leaders, and community members alike. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement and gratitude, as guests expressed their appreciation for Alhaji Abubakar Agbonoga’s generosity and vision. The event also served as a platform for reaffirming the importance of faith and community in shaping a brighter future for Edo State.

Al-Quddus Islamic Centre is not just a building; it is a manifestation of faith, unity, and progress. It stands as a symbol of hope for a brighter future, where religion and community coexist in harmony, empowering individuals and contributing to the betterment of society. Under the guidance of NASFAT and the visionary leadership of Alhaji Abubakar Agbonoga, the Centre promises to be a beacon of hope and prosperity, illuminating the path towards a brighter future for Edo State and beyond.
