CEM REPORT, BUSINESS | Recently listed company on the Exchange, VFD Group has appointed two new Independent Non-Executive Directors, in a move to strengthen corporate governance and consolidate its strategic direction.
The appointment of Rashida Saleh and Nneka Okekearu, subject to shareholder approval at the group’s next Annual General Meeting came into effect on 25 October 2023.
The appointment is in a board restructuring move to bring in highly knowledgeable and versatile individuals to cater to VFD Group’s business needs on a day-to-day basis.
This is according to a release signed by VFG Group media officer, Muyiwa Olowoporoku and seen by CEM.
According to the release, the wealth of experience of the new appointees will strengthen the VFD Group’s ability to succeed in today’s complex business environment.

Profile of Nneka Okekearu
Nneka Okekearu comes on board with over two decades of experience spanning across banking, telecommunication, consulting, oil and gas, and creation and administration of SMEs. A Deputy Director and Head of Gender at the Enterprise Development Centre of the Pan-Atlantic University, she holds a degree in Banking and Finance and an MBA. She also holds a Doctorate in Entrepreneurship from the University of Bradford.

Nneka sits on the board of Assembly-hub a catalytic platform aimed at strengthening the capacities of creative entrepreneurs. She also sits on the board of RecyclePoints, an award-winning recycling social enterprise focused on the climate and environment. She is also on the Mentoring Committee of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. A lover of Arts and Music. Nneka also sits on the Governing Board of the Yemisi Shyllon Museum for Art.
Profile of Rashida Saleh
Rashida Saleh has over 25 years of experience as a human resources, treasury, and contract management professional, 15 of which were spent in senior management roles in financial and oil and gas services. Treasury management, contract management, human resource management, strategic planning, operations, and change management are among her primary competencies.
She currently serves as the head of Human Resources at Oriental Energy Resources Limited.
CEM learned that the technology and operations directorate will be led by Gbenga Omolokun, a Non-Executive Director on the Board of VFD Group from 1st November 2023.
