CEM REPORT, CORPORATE EVENTS | Gbenga Oyewole has been investured as the 2nd Chairman of the Lekki and District Society (LEDS) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). His Investiture comes upon the expiration of the administration of the last Executive Committee led by late Abidemi Olawumi as chairman.
The event, which was held at Dova Hotel, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos over the weekend is the second to be hosted by the district which was inaugurated in May 2022.
Oyewole accepting the office noted that his administration will continue the work of building the district as his predecessor has done. He recalled that the previous administration grew membership from 75 to over 200, among other achievements which he and the new Executive Committee would continue to build upon.
“We will continue the work of district building based on the firm foundation she (Abidemi Olawumi) has laid together by the grace of God.”
He added that he will follow through an established programmes of the society and ensure that they are executed as required.
Oyewole performed his first duty as chairman by swearing-in a new executive committee of 11 members. The occasion was also used to honor the late Abidemi Olawunmi for her selfless service, focus, consistency and good leadership qualities. The award was received by her children.
Gbenga Oyewole is a graduate of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro. He also attended Manchester University Business School, United Kingdom.
He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).
He is also a fellow of international professional bodies such as the Institute of Public Accountants, Australia and the Institute of Financial Accountants, United Kingdom.
He is a Certified Forensic Accountant with experience cutting across telecommunications, banking, insurance, and education amongst others.
He started his career with a period of professional training with Babatunde Ibitoye & Co (Chartered Accountants) in Port Harcourt in the year 1999. He had a brief spell with Savannah Bank Plc, Kaduna.
In September 2003, Gbenga joined British International School, Victoria Island, Lagos. He left after thirteen years to engage in professional practice.
Oyewole is the Managing Partner of Olugbenga Oyewole & Co Firm of Chartered Accountants, Tax Practitioner and Forensic Accountants. He is also a Partner at Obsidian Consult Limited.
He has served on various committees and he is the immediate Past Chairman (IPC) of VI-Lekki and District Society of The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).
He served as vice chairman of Lekki and District Society of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) before his Investiture as Chairman.
