CEM REPORT, MANAGEMENT | Risk professionals have tipped security as the biggest risk facing the country at the moment.

In a short poll among Associates, Fellows and Ambassadors of the Association of Enterprise Risk Management Professionals, 45% of them said security posses a greatest risk to Nigerian development. 33%  picked political/electoral while 22% said it is leadership.

The opinion poll was conducted at the annual conference and induction ceremony of the Association of Enterprise Risk Management Professionals held Saturday at the Bankers House, Adeola Hopewell, Victoria Island.

The theme of the conference and Induction ceremony is ‘Electoral Risk Management’ being considered timely by speakers and commentators at the event with consideration to the conduct of the forthcoming general election next year.

Inspite of the poll outcome, there is an interconnectivity between the three risks in the poll being responsible for the current situation in the country with one leading to the other or one being the cause of the other.

Though political/election came second, experts have said that it occupies the center and the cause of the others. The submission is that it is the political system and election process that produces leadership. Failure of leadership system or structure is responsible for insecurity in the country.

It is clear that insecurity is now heavily affecting the economy, the political system and social make up of the country.
