There are individuals whose lives appear to have been carefully scripted by divine providence long before they were born. Their journey becomes a testament to purpose, service, and the impact one person can have on countless lives. One such individual is Mr. Patrick Asesenoghena Akamiokhor, FCA, a distinguished banker, accountant, educator, mentor, and community builder whose life story continues to inspire many.
A Prophecy Before Birth
According to family accounts, more than seven decades ago, a seer told a young villager named Mr. Aliu Akamiokhor, the father of Patrick Akamiokhor, that he would one day marry a woman from the city and that their son would become a great man whose influence would touch many lives. The prophecy sounded impossible.
At the time, Aliu Akamiokhor was a humble farmer in the village called Ivioghe, a rural community. He could not imagine how he would ever meet, let alone marry a city woman. Dismissing the prediction as unrealistic, he continued with his daily life.
Some years later, destiny began to unfold. During a walk in his community, he saw a young woman alight from a vehicle. Something immediately stirred within him, convincing him that she was the woman he would marry. Though she was traveling onward to her village called Igiode, he made inquiries and was eventually introduced to her family. What began as a chance encounter soon blossomed into marriage.
Shortly after the marriage, another remarkable event reportedly occurred again. While the young bride was pregnant, an elderly woman approached her and delivered a message. She declared that the child in her womb was a boy destined for greatness; a child who would uplift people, touch lives, and become a source of hope for many, that she should take the pregnancy out of the Community till the Child is born. Acting on the spiritual message, the expectant mother relocated temporarily to her maternal home, where she later gave birth to a son. That child was Patrick Asesenoghena Akamiokhor.
His father named him “Asesenoghena”, which means “God alone is the Master Planner and that no human being can fully determine God’s purpose”.

A Passion for Education and Community Development
From an early age, Patrick Akamiokhor demonstrated an unusual commitment to service and learning. As a young man, he became actively involved in the development of his community. One of the landmark achievements in the area was the teaching in Oghe Community Secondary School which he volunteered to render to the Community since the Community School was lack of teachers. The establishment of this Community Secondary School was made possible through the efforts of community leaders, including his father, and the support of the administration of the late Professor Ambrose Folorunsho Alli, the then governor of Bendel State.
The school faced a major challenge in its formative years: a shortage of teachers. Rather than stand by and watch students struggle, Patrick Akamiokhor volunteered his services as a teacher alongside other dedicated young men such as Oshomah Itseuwa, Ambrose Asemokha, Apebuamhe Ivienagbor and Benson Emake (the Historian), he helped nurture and educate the students of the community
