The foremost club in Edo North, opened the retreat with a lecture delivered on Friday, 5th September, by Dr Austin Aipoh aimed at reminding its members the core mandate, mission, vision and values of the club ahead its second day deliberations.
The retreat is themed: “Addressing insecurity: A panacea to achieving food security and poverty alleviation”. This topic has become so compelling following the level of insecurity currently being experienced in those communities.
Speaking on the topic; ‘Vitals of Weppa Wanno Pyramid Club of Nigeria’, Dr Aipoh reminded members the mandate, vision, mission and values of the club.
He said: “Our Mandate is to ensure all round development of Weppa, Wanno and Uzanu clans and attend to members welfare.”
The vision of the club, according to Dr Aipoh, is “To become a leading club committed to the development of Weppa, Wanno and Uzanu communities.”
For its Mission, it is “To mobilize and put together resources from Weppa, Wanno and Uzanu sons and daughters toward realizing developmental opportunities and using their positions to attract infrastructural and other developmental facilities.”
Understanding and internalizing these statements are very critical to enable implementation of the resolutions that will be reached towards addressing menacing insecurity in the land.
Dr Aipoh admonished members to internalize the dictates of the club in line with the esteem in which founding members held and still hold the club. He said; “We all wish for a sustained and healthy Club that continues to be the pride of every one of us….A healthy club is derived from a knowledgeable and conformable membership”
The club which started in 1987 has made very remarkable impact in Weppa, Wanno and Uzanu communities. Dr Aipoh highlighted some of the laubable programs and achievements of the club.
He said; “We are well known for our scholarship program. Many sons and daughters of Weppa and Wanno have benefited from our laudable scholarship program.
