Technology company, Globacom, is celebrating 22 years of empowering Nigerians and transforming the country’s telecommunications landscape. The company expressed its profound gratitude to its millions of customers, whose loyalty and trust have been the cornerstone of its success since August 29, 2003 when it launched operation.

From the very beginning, Globacom challenged the status quo. It was the first mobile network in Nigeria to introduce per-second billing and significantly lower the cost of SIM cards, making mobile phone access affordable for millions of people.

Since 2003, Globacom has consistently championed innovation and infrastructure development, including building a robust fiber optic network, which has seen the company built one of Africa’s most extensive fiber optic networks, connecting cities, towns, and previously underserved communities.

It also launched first privately owned undersea cable in Africa, Glo 1, which has brought massive broadband capacity to Nigeria, driving the nation’s digital economy forward.

In addition, Glo pioneered a variety of innovative and affordable voice and data plans, expanding access to communication for individuals, businesses, and institutions.
