CEM REPORT | As at yesterday Wednesday, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) disclosed that electricity generation in the country peaked at 3,687.3MW.
This is 4.6% lower to 3,865.4MW generated the previous day.
According to website of TCN total energy generation for the day stood at 84,840.74MWh, representing 2.2% lower than the 86,721.96MW generated in the previous day.

Off-peak energy generation also declined by 2.7% to 3,393MW while energy supply reduced by 2.1% from 85,563.15MWh recorded on Tuesday to 83,795.82MWh on Wednesday.
The highest frequency for the day was 50.41Hz, while the lowest frequency was 49.01Hz
These values recorded is still below the minimum 105,000MWh required to experience some level of power supply stability in the country.
Highlight of the day is:
Peak generation – 3,687.3MW (-4.6%)
Off-peak generation – 3,393MW (-2.7%)
Energy generated – 84,840.74MWh (-2.2%)
Energy sent out – 83,795.82MWh (-2.1%)
Despite several interventions by the Central Bank in the power sector, Nigerians continue to suffer from epileptic power supply.
According to Nairametrics, CBN in a press briefing at the MPC meeting of May 2022 said, a total of N15.71 billion was released between April and May 2022 to GenCos, GasCos and other sector players, under the Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Plc. Bringing the total intervention fund by the apex bank to N1.3 trillion.
Similarly, Nigeria Electricity Market Stabilisation Facility – Phase 2 (NEMSF-2), cumulative disbursement N251.93 billion under the NEMSF-2.
