CEM INSPIRATION | In the charade of political jamboree, the silent intentions of our heart is like a ticking time bomb. So, our eyes of vigilance are wide open. As usual, they have started hawking their manifesto that by our experiences we boldly call deceits for we know say everything na stillbirth promises.
Just for cheap political points, they have become better actors than our most celebrated Nollywood icons; eating maize on our streets (that are starving for basic infrastructures), backing a crying baby in the market place for 5 minutes, descending on bowls of amala and ewudu by the road side in proximity to stinking gutters begging for sanitation. Maybe health is no longer wealth.
The climax of the show is sharing of items. That reminds me, when will you people start sharing Ludo? I asked because my friend’s own is broken. Since it’s raining season, you can also add rain coat. Funny enough, all their old tactics are currently trending except for the $1 to N1 stunt and the N40 per litre “hit song” that didn’t even make it to any street music award.
The Great Nigerian Students are tired of staying at home while they should be in school, citizens are very afraid to travel irrespective of the mode of transportation. The word “Nigerian youth” is gradually becoming a synonym for unemployment. Due to insecurity, farmers have said they can’t go back to the farmland. Why will hike in prices not send us into a fasting mood; when hunger don see us finish?
The times we closed our eyes and trusted most of you with power what did you do with it? Or should I refresh your memory? What about the heaven on earth democracy you promised? Depriving us of crying out in our pains is a travesty of democracy at its peak. You were chanting One Nigeria back then but on reception of power, you ended up dividing us along lines and planes, shattered us into pieces and blew us like shaff into the pangs of hunger. All we could salvage from this furnace of a governance is barely a hand full of a semblance of hope to sustain us each day till a “Messiah” shows up. In fact, we are too disappointed to continue highlighting our woes.
Now you are going again, visiting every nook and cranny but in cases of emergency, would you do the same after clinching the seat of power? If I may ask, do you know that song that says we will only be remembered by what we have done?
Well, I am very happy to inform you that we know that song very well. I’m also glad to let you know that the ill treatment you meted out to us have worked wonders like the correctional backhand slaps from our mothers. Just like a popular activist would say, “our mumu don do”. Hunger have reset our brains and our eyes don clear gan!
Biko, we didn’t say you should not campaign o. See space full everywhere, go ahead and do your thing. We can also assist you in clapping. Sheybi it’s just to clap? Ba damuwa! Just that we have one small thing to tell you.
Sir, do not forget to polish your usual dusty and archaic promises.
As for what happened in the past, don’t bother giving more excuses.
Concerned citizens are watching.
All devastated Nigerians are waiting.
For now, this is all we have to say.
You’ll hear from us on election day!
