Ecobank Nigeria has entered into a strategic partnership with the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CrediCorp) to enhance access to affordable and flexible loans for Nigerian workers. This collaboration aims to address the financial needs of both public and private sector employees by providing them with easier access to credit for a wide range of expenses, including education, housing, healthcare, and essential goods.
The partnership leverages CrediCorp’s expertise as a development finance institution (DFI) established by the Federal Government to enhance consumer credit access within the Nigerian workforce. CrediCorp will provide funding to Ecobank, which will then on-lend these funds to eligible customers.
“This collaboration is an excellent opportunity to serve our customers, and we believe it will improve the quality of life for many Nigerians,” said Adeola Ogunyemi, Head of Consumer Banking at Ecobank Nigeria. “Eligible customers can use the loans to purchase electronics, solar systems, or CNG vehicle conversions, as well as for other essential expenses like school fees, rent, upkeep, medical bills, and car maintenance. We encourage working-class Nigerians to open an account with Ecobank to benefit from this initiative.”
Loan Features and Eligibility
The loan program offers several key benefits:
- Affordable Interest Rates: Competitive interest rates are designed to make the loans accessible to a wider range of borrowers.
- Flexible Repayment Terms: A two-year repayment term provides borrowers with sufficient time to repay the loan comfortably.
- Fixed Monthly Installments: Equal monthly installments, encompassing both principal and interest, remain unchanged throughout the loan term, providing borrowers with greater financial predictability, especially in times of economic uncertainty.
- Eligibility: The program is available to both existing and new Ecobank customers. Civil servants and private-sector employees whose salaries are paid through Ecobank are eligible. New customers can also access the loans by providing an employer undertaking to direct future salary payments to Ecobank.
