Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamu has commended and celebrated a Nigerian leading airline, Air Peace under the leadership of Allen Onyema, for their continued growth after ten years since it commenced operations in Nigeria.
Keyamu gave the commendation at the 10th anniversary celebration held Friday at the prestigious Eko Hotel, Victoria Island.
Festus Keyamu emphasized that, historically, it is difficult for an indigenous airline to survive more than ten years and still remain strong.
Festus Keyamu said; “Air Peace has survived. If you check, it is difficult for airline in Nigeria to survive more than ten years and still remain stronger. Air Peace is the prime ambassador of Nigeria in global aviation”
The Minister, while citing a recent survey said that Nigeria account for 80 percent of domestic travel in Africa. This is because we have the population and the market. He therefore expressed determination of the Ministry of Aviation not to allow any airline go under any more in Nigeria.
While promising to protect Air Peace Limited, he said “we have a duty to protect our own”
He concluded by saying that following the performance of Allen Onyema led Air Peace, Nigeria has been invited to a meeting in Ireland by airline financiers with the aim of entering into a leasing agreement with Nigeria to expand the fleet of its airlines.
