CEM ANNOUNCER, PERSONALITY | Olufunmilayo Olaniyi was recently elected as the 3rd Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria, Lekki and District Society as a successor to Gbenga Oyewole who held the position for the one-year period.

Olufunmilayo Olaniyi is a seasoned professional with over 16 years of experience spanning tax compliance, advisory services, family governance, business development and strategic partnerships. She is currently the Senior Vice President, Business Development at Flutterwave, a leading fintech company revolutionizing payment solutions in Africa, the fourth African startup to reach “unicorn” status and listed in the United State of America
Prior to joining Flutterwave, Funmi held key positions at renowned organizations such as the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, KPMG, and Andersen in Nigeria. At KPMG and Andersen, she excelled as a tax adviser to multinational corporations and various reputable entities across diverse sectors, consistently delivering top-tier services. During her tenure at Andersen, Funmi’s exceptional performance propelled her to the position of Associate Director, where she pioneered and led the Business Development and strategic partnership unit, achieving numerous milestones.
With her extensive experience in tax regulations, Funmi has successfully assisted clients in navigating tax audits and investigations. She is adept at advising both multinational and national clients on Nigerian tax matters, providing practical solutions to mitigate potential adverse impact on their operations. She also oversaw tax and accounting activities across multiple countries including Nigeria, Angola, Sierra Leone, and Ghana, demonstrating her expertise in areas such as withholding tax, value-added tax, personal income tax, stamp duty, urban property tax and corporate income tax.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Funmi is deeply committed to community service and philanthropy. She actively participates in initiatives aimed at improving education and security, promoting eco-friendly lifestyles, and facilitating dispute resolution in her community. Recognized for her outstanding contributions, Funmi has received several awards and recognition, including the 150 Eko Aspire Women Recognition Award by the Lagos State Governor, His Excellency, Governor Olajide Sanwo-Olu and various recognition awards for exceptional service and dedication from KPMG and Andersen. She is a beacon of inspiration and mentorship to youths in her community, workplace and professional institute. She is an active member with IA-Foundations, an international NGO which specializes in taking children off-the-street and putting them back into classes, thereby securing the future. She recently incorporated an NGO to support the less privileged in areas of education, health and economic empowerment.

Funmi holds an MBA from Nexford University in Washington D.C., along with M.Sc and B.Sc degrees from the University of Lagos, Mass Communication. She was awarded the most outstanding Graduating Female Student in Mass Communication, Best Graduating Student in Journalism and Best Graduating Broadcast Student in the University of Lagos. She is actively involved in professional associations such as ICAN, where she serves on various committees and anchors the institute’s weekly podcast, ICAN ON AIR, showcasing her commitment to continuous learning and professional development. She holds leadership positions in alumni associations, further demonstrating her dedication to fostering connections and giving back to her alma mater. She had her Secondary Education in Federal Government College, Ogbomoso, Oyo State where she serves as the President of her Old Student Association (FEGO) 2001 Set and she is also the President of Mass Communication Sparklers set, UNILAG. Funmi is happily married with children.
