These awards offer financial support to deserving students pursuing studies in various fields at public tertiary institutions across the country.
Eligibility Requirements for Scholarships and Bursaries
According to Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, eligibility for the scholarships and bursaries varies slightly depending on the program you’re applying for. Here’s a breakdown of the key requirements:
Nigerian Scholarship Award (NSA):
Postgraduate Studies: Applicants must possess a minimum of a first degree with Second Class Honours (Upper Division).
Undergraduate, HND, and NCE Studies: Students must be registered full-time in their second year or above at a federal or state university, polytechnic, monotechnic, or college of education.
Academic Performance: Undergraduate scholarship applicants, including persons with disabilities, must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of:
4.0 on a 5-point scale
5.0 on a 7-point scale
3.5 and above on a 4.0 scale
Education Bursary Award (EBA):
Course of Study: Applicants must be registered students studying education in Nigerian colleges of education and universities.
Year of Study: All applicants, including persons with disabilities, must be in their second year or above.
Previous Scholarships: Beneficiaries of any existing scholarship are not eligible for the EBA.
Application Details
The application window for both scholarships and bursaries is open from Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, to Monday, May 13th, 2024. Interested students are encouraged to apply early to avoid missing out on this valuable opportunity.
