Women Marathon: Lagos Lists Blocked Roads

CEM REPORT, TRANSPORTATION | The Annual Women Mini Marathon has been scheduled for Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 6 am.

This year’s event tagged: “Lagos Women Run,” is designated to kick off from Onikan roundabout and finish at Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Announcing the event the General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, LASTMA,  Bolaji Oregaba, said given the marathon certain routes have been dedicated for the race to ensure the safety and security of all runners.

He listed the route to include;

Start point: Onikan roundabout through Awolowo road to Five Cowrie bridge (Falomo Bridge) to Akin Adesola Street to Adeola Odeku Street to Ahmadu Bello Way to Bonny Camp Bridge to Independence Bridge to Island Club road (by Nigeria Police Zonal Headquarters, Zone2) to Mobolaji Johnson Arena (formerly Onikan Stadium), Finish point.

He added that adjoining streets will also be temporarily closed.

“Awolowo Road will be temporarily closed.

“Akin Adesola inwards Ahmadu Bello Way (Bar Beach).

“The adjoining streets along Adeola Odeku road will also be temporarily closed.

“Ahmadu Bello Way inwards Bonny Camp will be closed to traffic at the Adeola Odeku intersection.

Oregaba advised motorists to seek alternative routes for their movements until the roads are reopened for commercial activities.

“From Onikan to Awolowo Road, use Jk Randle Avenue (TBS road) to old Nitel Building to Outer Marina to Obalende Bridge to Dolphin/Osborne road to Alfred Rewane Road and continue their journey.

“From Ikoyi to Onikan/ Lagos Island, use (a) Alfred Rewane road (old Kingsway road) to Osborne road to Simpson bridge to Obalende bridge to Flag House (Muson Centre) to Jk Randle and continue their journey or (b) Simpson bridge to Simpson to Sandgrouse to connect desired destinations.
