CEM REPORT, SECURITY | No fewer than 80 Okada were impounded by Amotekun personnel over the course of the week in the Ondo State capital – Akure.
According to the Commander of Amotekun in Ondo State, Adetunji Adeleye, motorcycle operators, popularly known as Okada riders were responsible for the rising spate of criminal activities in the state.
“The only people allowed to move at that time are the law enforcement agents or people on essential services as they must carry certified identification cards before they can use their motorbikes.
“We have discovered that Okada riders are the main causes of criminal activities across the state. We are going back by 7 pm today, all our men will be on all major junctions and inner land.
“No movement of Okada again, in that way, anybody seen with Okada at night, will be assumed as a criminal and will be handled as such.
“There shall be no nightclubbing after midnight as every night clubber must go home. We are ready to rid the state of crimes of all kinds.”
He added that the corps will continue to ensure that criminal-minded persons and groups were weeded out from the state.
